RESPITE SERVICES
Caring for a child or adolescent with autism can be both rewarding and demanding.
At Kay Services Inc., we provide Respite Care Services that offer temporary relief to families and caregivers while ensuring that each individual continues to receive high-quality care and engagement.
Our respite program provides:
A safe, nurturing, and structured environment
Supervision by trained and compassionate staff
Fun and meaningful activities that encourage social interaction and independence
Flexible scheduling to meet each family’s needs
Our goal is to give families peace of mind, knowing their loved one is cared for in a supportive, autism-friendly environment.
INTENSIVE INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT SERVICES (IISS)
Our IISS program helps children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) develop essential life, communication, and social skills through structured, individualized support.
Our services include:
Behavioral support using positive strategies
Skill-building activities that promote independence
Community integration opportunities
Social and emotional development through guided interaction
Family collaboration to reinforce progress at home
Each child receives one-on-one support from a trained staff member who tailors sessions to meet their specific developmental goals.

Maryland's Autism Waiver
Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services Waiver for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Autism Waiver)
Purpose
The Autism Waiver (AW) is designed to provide community-based, long-term, person-centered therapeutic services and support to eligible children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to enable home and community living as an alternative to institutional care.
Eligibility
The AW Registry is a list of individuals interested in AW services. Families must contact the AW Registry at 866-417-3480 to be eligible to apply to the AW when a vacancy occurs. Children and youth must meet the following criteria to enroll in the AW when eligible to apply:
Have a current diagnosis of ASD;
ages are 1 through the end of the school semester when the child turns 21 years old;
Reside in Maryland;
Have an Individualized Educational Program (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) with at least 15 hours per week of special education and/or related services;
Meet eligibility requirements for an ICF-IID institutional level of care;
Can be served and safely maintained in the home and community with AW services; and
Meet financial eligibility for Medical Assistance; their monthly income may not exceed 300% of SSI benefits, and their countable assets may not exceed $2,000 or $2500 (depending on eligibility category).
